The PowerDrive V2 trolling motor runs smoothly and quietly on the water. |
The PowerDrive V2 trolling motor from Minn Kota marks an evolutionary leap forward for the company. The original PowerDrive was one of the company’s most popular trolling motors ever, but the PowerDrive 2 takes things to the next level with such features as an improved deploy mechanism, a new ergonomically designed foot pedal, and digital electronics. The PowerDrive 2 is equipped with a deploy-assist lever that keeps the motor securely stowed during rough water runs and while trailering, but that also unlocks quickly when you need to deploy the motor. As a result, you can drop in and pursue fish at a moment’s notice. The side-to-side steering foot pedal, meanwhile, includes a momentary/constant on switch, a speed control knob for precise adjustments, and an 18-inch cord with waterproof connector plugs. And boaters will love the built-in AutoPilot, which locks on to any heading you choose and takes you there. With the AutoPilot enabled, you’ll spend less time repositioning and redirecting your boat and more time catching fish. The AutoPilot is equipped with a state-of-the-art compass system that continuously corrects against wind, waves, and current.
The PowerDrive V2 comes standard with Minn Kota’s Digital Maximizer technology, which helps the battery run up to five times longer on a single charge, along with an indestructible composite shaft (guaranteed for life) and a push-to-test battery meter. Plus, the PowerDrive 2 is equipped with a host of convenient accessories. Minn Kota’s Universal Sonar 2 system, for example, provides interference-free sonar performance, water temperature sensing, and dual beam technology to give you an expanded view underwater and greater bottom detail. The Universal Sonar 2 includes an integrated and protected transducer that’s compatible with most major fish-finder brands. In addition, the PowerDrive 2 is compatible with Minn Kota’s Weedless Wedge 2 prop (sold separately) . The Weedless Wedge 2–which includes swept-back, flared blades–lets you take on the thick stuff without battery-draining chopping and hacking. Finally, the motor offers extra-large windings and commutators that dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power, and a longer motor life. Minn Kota even added a unique bearing system with reduced friction to cut fish-spooking noise. The PowerDrive V2 motor carries a three-year warranty.
